Issue 1: The Seven Labors
One hero. One horse. Seven trials on the short road to Mazandaran.
Kay Kavus lies blind in the White Div’s prison, and Rostam takes the short road to save him: a lion, a burning desert, a dragon, a witch, a captive guide, a Div warlord and, at the end, the White Div in his cave. This double issue tells the Seven Labors in 127 panels across 56 pages, in black-and-white ink with nine full-colour pages, and every caption is a couplet of Ferdowsi’s poem in our rhyming English verse. With a cast page, a map of the short road, an afterword, the Third Labor in full verse, and a glossary.
