Jarireh Watches the Dust over Charam
From B12.3, News of Tus Reaches Forood. It illustrates B12.3.13–17:
- B12.3.13Jarireh watched from high upon the wall,And saw the dust-cloud over Charam fall.
- B12.3.14Her heart grew heavy as the army came,Still filled with grief and smoke for Siavash’s name.
- B12.3.15Then young Forood, by grief and care oppressed,Approached his mother, whom he thus addressed:
- B12.3.16“From Iran comes an army bold and grand,Its koust and elephants at Tus’s command.
- B12.3.17What shall we do? What plan should we enact,Before their army moves to swift attack?”
