Juya Spitted on Rostam's Spear
From B5.10, Kavus Wars with Mazandaran. It illustrates B5.10.36–41:
- B5.10.36When Rostam heard, he raised his battle cry,And charged as though a mountain shook the sky.
- B5.10.37His foe drew back, unwilling now to stand,And wheeled aside in fear of Rostam’s hand.
- B5.10.38But swift as dust, with spearpoint fixed and true,He struck the girdle clean and split it through.
- B5.10.39The spear tore through jowshan and straps apart,And hurled him reeling, stunned in strength and heart.
- B5.10.40Unseated, flung aloft in shattered gear,Like some spitted bird he hung upon the spear.
- B5.10.41He plunged into a ravine, bloodied, torn,His jowshan split, from breast and shoulder shorn.
