Piran Beholds the Newborn Kay Khosrow
From B9.57, The Birth of Kay Khosrow. It illustrates B9.57.10–16:
- B9.57.10Golshahr ran swiftly to the queen and sawThe newborn prince, and stood transfixed with awe.
- B9.57.11She cried with joy that echoed through the dome,Then breathless ran to Piran in his home:
- B9.57.12“The moon and sun seem joined in this one child;Come see what power the Maker has compiled.
- B9.57.13The Maker’s wisdom shines in every sign;He lacks but crown, and helm, and jowshan’s shine.”
- B9.57.14Then Piran came and looked upon the boy,And praised Yazdan with reverence and joy.
- B9.57.15So well proportioned were his limbs and frame,No newborn child had ever seemed the same.
- B9.57.16He seemed a child already one year grown,So firm his limbs, so strong in flesh and bone.
