Khosrow Hunts in the Spring Plain
From C4.25, Kay Khosrow Writes Kavus of His Victory. It illustrates C4.25.17–23:
- C4.25.17Then he returned to revelry and wine,With moon-faced beauties radiant and fine.
- C4.25.18So passed the time till spring adorned the earth,And hue and scent gave paradise its birth.
- C4.25.19The plain was painted silk; the sky was bright,Like leopard’s back with many-colored light.
- C4.25.20The Gur-e-Khar and deer roamed through the land; With hawk and cheetah he pursued the band.
- C4.25.21With musky wine and beauties bright of face,He shared the pleasures of the royal chase.
- C4.25.22The beasts, like gurs, were full of vital power; They roamed the open plain in spring’s bright hour.
- C4.25.23Their necks were like male lions’, thick and strong; With heads and ears like deer’s, they moved along.
