The Dragon Swallows the Poisoned Hides

From D5.27.2, Mountain Dragon. It illustrates D5.27.2.21–25:

  • D5.27.2.21
When Shah Iskandar neared the dragon’s den,It seemed a hanging cloud to all his men.
  • D5.27.2.22
Its tongue was blue, its eyes were red as blood,And from its mouth the flame poured in a flood.
  • D5.27.2.23
They cast the cattle from the mountain’s crown,And watched the dragon as the hides fell down.
  • D5.27.2.24
The moment those brave hands released their hold,The dragon swallowed them as down they rolled.
  • D5.27.2.25
When skin and flesh had filled its monstrous frame,The poison spread through every limb like flame.
