From D8.1.5, Shapur Is Freed by a Clever Damsel. It illustrates D8.1.5.49–54:
- D8.1.5.49When all was set, and night hid Rum’s high dome,The pair resolved to flee from Caesar’s home.
- D8.1.5.50Two guards who kept the watch became awareThat Shah Shapur was leaving from their care.
- D8.1.5.51They spurred in his pursuit with all their force,And overtook the famous warrior’s horse.
- D8.1.5.52They seized his reins; the Shah sprang up to fight,Upright within his saddle, full of might.
- D8.1.5.53He gripped one by the head and flung him low,Down to the earth beneath that crushing throw.
- D8.1.5.54When both lay lifeless, fallen on the ground,The Shah and maid rode on, for Iran bound.
