Shirin Writes Her Will
From E8.6, The Deaths of Shirin and Shiruyeh. It illustrates E8.6.10–13:
- E8.6.10That mourning lady called a scribe to hand,To set in Pahlavi what she had planned.
- E8.6.11She gave instructions, set her wealth in view,And told the learned scribe its value too.
- E8.6.12She kept some poison in a chest close by;No need to search the town for a supply.
- E8.6.13She sewed a burial shroud for her own form,That garden-cypress soon to leave the storm.
