Bahram kills two lions, hears from a herdsman of a jeweler’s harp-playing daughter, and rides alone to the house as “Gushasp.” Arezu sings to him and chooses him over the king himself; they are married by dawn. Meanwhile Rozbeh lectures the chiefs on the king’s excess with women.
- D10.14.97The maiden’s name was Arezu, his light; She served his wine and was his heart’s delight.
- D10.14.111I wait upon you as a handmaid true;Called Arezu, I joy in guests like you.
- D10.14.121I see no man to rival you in strife;May Arezu serve you faithfully through life.”
