THE CONNECTIONS BEHIND THE CURVES
Recorded relationships
ABOUT THIS FIRST VIEW
One position. More than one inheritance.
A selection, with sources
Every connection links to its genealogy plate on this site and to the poem. Missing people or links are omissions from this selected view, not claims of absence from the Shahnameh.
The family groups are ours
A person appears once around the rim. Kay Khosrow is placed with Kay Qobad’s house; Iskandar with the houses of Rum. Both retain their other parentage links. “Houses of Rum” groups two distinct royal families for navigation; it does not merge their identities.
The past accumulates
The full view combines relationships across the narrative. It does not show who is alive, married or allied at one instant. The “Evidence through” menu uses the place in the poem where each relationship is cited, not a historical date or the first moment the relationship could be known. Names remain visible, so this is not a spoiler-free mode.
Descent includes the unnamed
Grey dashed links mark descent through unspecified generations, never direct parenthood. Unknown parents are not invented. Marriage and parentage are separate connections, including the poem’s account of Bahman and Homahyi.
