Manuchehr Mourns at Fereydoon's Tomb
From A6.27, The Death of Fereydoon. It illustrates A6.27.12–18:
- A6.27.12Manuchehr laid the Kayanian crown aside,And bound a bloody girdle at his side.
- A6.27.13By royal rite he raised a tomb of old,From lapis lazuli and crimson gold.
- A6.27.14An ivory throne they set beneath the crown;Above the seat the royal crown hung down.
- A6.27.15They came to bid farewell in solemn way,As rite and faith had ordered for that day.
- A6.27.16They closed the tomb upon the honored king; The world brought low the lord of everything.
- A6.27.17For one full week Manuchehr wept in grief; His yellow cheeks and tears found no relief.
- A6.27.18One week the king remained in mourning deep; The city and bazaars joined him to weep.
