Farangis Counsels Khosrow and Giv
From B10.18, Giv and Kay Khosrow Go to Siavash-Gard. It illustrates B10.18.5–16 (to B10.18.25):
- B10.18.5When heart and reason steadied from their fear,They brought Farangis to their counsel near.
- B10.18.6The three resolved together to depart,Unseen by hostile warriors from the start.
- B10.18.7“We must depart unseen,” the lady said,“Or else all hope of freedom shall be dead.
- B10.18.8If we delay, the world will close us round,And every road to freedom will be bound.
- B10.18.9Afrasiab will hear and lose all rest,Then turn from food and sleep, by rage possessed.
- B10.18.10He will come like the White Div in his might,And sweet life then will vanish from our sight.
- B10.18.11Not one of us will then remain alive,By open means or hidden, none survive.
- B10.18.12The world is filled with enemies and fear; This land is held in Ahriman’s dark sphere.
- B10.18.13Hear now my counsel, son endowed with farr;Keep every word, for danger is not far.
- B10.18.14There lies a meadow, not far from this way,Apart from where the riders of Tur stray.
- B10.18.15At dawn, with Giv, take saddle, bridle black,And to that meadow follow hidden track.
- B10.18.16You will behold a mountain reaching high,Where clouds rub faces on its crown of sky.
