Kavus Descends to Greet Khosrow

From B10.30, Kay Khosrow Comes before Kavus. It illustrates B10.30.1–7:

  • B10.30.1
When Khosrow stood before the royal throne,The world with scent and color brightly shone.
  • B10.30.2
The walls and roofs were hung with precious things,While music rose from harps and flutes and strings.
  • B10.30.3
Rosewater, wine, and musk the courts supplied,And saffron richly scattered far and wide.
  • B10.30.4
The horses’ manes were drenched with scent and wine,While sugar, dirhams, lay beneath the line.
  • B10.30.5
Tears filled the eyes of Kavus at the view,As Khosrow’s face shone radiant and new.
  • B10.30.6
He left his throne and stepped down from his place,And pressed his eyes and face to Khosrow’s face.
  • B10.30.7
The youthful prince bowed low with royal grace,Then hand in hand, they sought the throne’s embrace.
