Jarireh's Last Farewell
From B12.13, The Death of Jarireh. It illustrates B12.13.2–5:
- B12.13.2Jarireh kindled fire with her own hands,And burned the treasures gathered through the lands.
- B12.13.3Then sword in hand she barred the stable door,Where stood the Arab steeds she prized before.
- B12.13.4She hamstrung them and ripped their bodies wide; While bloody tears ran down her cheeks beside.
- B12.13.5With khanjar blue as water, she drew near,And pressed both cheeks against her son so dear.
