Bijan Comes Upon Palashan's Fire
From B12.14, The March to Kasa Rud. It illustrates B12.14.27–31:
- B12.14.27Now Palashan had brought a deer to ground,And roasted meat while smoke was curling round.
- B12.14.28He ate beside the fire and kept his bow;His horse grazed freely on the grass below.
- B12.14.29His horse saw Bijan’s charger drawing near,Then neighed and snorted loudly in his ear.
- B12.14.30Then Palashan knew one had come to fight,And called aloud to challenge him outright:
- B12.14.31“I fell fierce lions, bind the Divs I meet;Declare your name; your star shall mourn defeat.”
