Tazhav Strikes Bahram from Behind
From B12.24, Tazhav Slays Bahram. It illustrates B12.24.50–56:
- B12.24.50The warriors closed round him for the fight,While foremost chiefs pressed inward in their might.
- B12.24.51The hero strung his bow and loosed his hail,Till arrows dimmed the heavens in their trail.
- B12.24.52When arrows failed, his spear rose to the sky;A sea of blood spread mountain, plain nearby.
- B12.24.53When his spear broke, he seized both gorz and sword;Blood splashed toward the dark cloud as he warred.
- B12.24.54The fight continued thus; brave Bahram bledFrom shafts that struck his limbs, his breast, his head.
- B12.24.55When strength and vigor failed him in the fight,Tazhav struck from behind with all his might.
- B12.24.56His sword struck hard upon the shoulder’s crown;Face-first from off the mound came Bahram down.
