The Remnant Climbs Mount Hamavan
From B13.12, The Turanians Besiege Hamavan. It illustrates B13.12.5–14:
- B13.12.5They reached Mount Hamavan and set their trainUpon its outer slopes above the plain.
- B13.12.6Then Tus addressed brave Giv, renowned and wise:“Illustrious chief, whose counsel none denies,
- B13.12.7For three full days we marched and none were fed,Without repose, while grief around us spread.
- B13.12.8Come, eat a little; lay your armor by,Then sleep and rest while night still holds the sky.
- B13.12.9Piran will surely follow without stay,Intent on battle as he comes this way.
- B13.12.10Go to the mountain; take your post; prepare,And leave our freshest troops in Bijan’s care.”
- B13.12.11Then Giv led up the wounded from the strife,All weary of the world and sick of life.
- B13.12.12He chose the freshest warriors from the band,And formed a rested force at his command.
- B13.12.13“This mountain-top,” he said, “shall be our ground; Here we must set our weary ranks around.”
- B13.12.14The outpost guards descended from the height,To bar the road and block the foe outright.
