Rostam Receives Sahm's Gorz
From B2.1, Afrasiab Invades after Garshasp’s Death. It illustrates B2.1.79–84:
- B2.1.79He said: “You have had your fill of rest and cup;I bring Sahm’s gorz; now take the heirloom up.
- B2.1.80Bring Sahm’s great gorz from Mazandaran’s fight,That felled a raging elephant with might.”
- B2.1.81From warrior Garshasp it came as heir,Through father after father into Sahm’s care.
- B2.1.82When Rostam saw it, joy lit up his face,And blessings poured on Zal for gift and grace.
- B2.1.83He said: “O Pahlevan of world-wide fame,Find one to bear my gorz, my farr, my frame.”
- B2.1.84Zal marveled at each word his son had said,And spoke Yazdan’s great name above his head.
