Kavus's Palaces on Mount Alborz
From B6.8, Kavus Sets the World in Order. It illustrates B6.8.11–21:
- B6.8.11Upon Mount Alborz he prepared a height,Where weary Divs were spent beneath his might.
- B6.8.12Two houses there of hardest stone were made,Their massive forms in ordered measure laid.
- B6.8.13Each measured ten kamands across its span,Raised firm in stone according to his plan.
- B6.8.14He carved stone stables in the mountain’s side,With pillars set and steel nails deep applied.
- B6.8.15War-steeds stood there, and camels for the way,To bear the royal ammari day by day.
- B6.8.16He built a palace fashioned all of glass,Its walls with emeralds set in shining mass.
- B6.8.17A dome of onyx crowned the structure high,Brought far from Yemen under southern sky.
- B6.8.18A famed Mobad was seated in that place,Where knowledge never waned or lost its grace.
- B6.8.19Two silver armories were built beside,With weapons for the royal wars supplied.
- B6.8.20A golden hall for Kavus rose, ornate,Two shast in height, its measured walls stood straight.
- B6.8.21With turquoise tracery the walls were dressed,And rubies burned from every arch and crest.
