Siavash Gives the Army to Bahram
From B9.28, Siavash Consults Bahram and Zangeh. It illustrates B9.28.39–45:
- B9.28.39To Bahram, son of Gudarz, thus he said:“To you I trust the men that I have led.
- B9.28.40The camp, the koust, the elephants, the might;Remain in place till Tus appears in sight.
- B9.28.41Then yield the army wholly to his hand,And place its stores and wealth at his command.
- B9.28.42Count all before him, let each store be shown,The treasure, horses and the golden throne.”
- B9.28.43When Bahram heard these words, his heart was torn,While Zangeh wept, his spirit left forlorn.
- B9.28.44On Siavash bold Zangeh turned his eyes, And blood-like tears ran down beneath the skies.
- B9.28.45They sat together, troubled and dismayed,By all that Siavash had now conveyed.
