Garsivaz Sees Farangis Enthroned
From B9.45, The Birth of Forood. It illustrates B9.45.12–19:
- B9.45.12The prince and Garsivaz together went,To Farangis, and told what news was sent.
- B9.45.13Garsivaz saw her on an ivory throne,With turquoise crown that brightly on her shone.
- B9.45.14In golden caps her attendants stood bright,Like lesser moons that paled before her light.
- B9.45.15She rose and greeted him with gracious word,And asked what hardships on the road occurred.
- B9.45.16Then Garsivaz felt heart and mind grow hot,As boiling thoughts disturbed his inward lot.
- B9.45.17He thought: “Before another year is through,Siavash will count no man his equal too.
- B9.45.18The kingship, throne, the treasure, realm, and force,Will all be his as fortune holds its course.”
- B9.45.19He hid the turmoil buried in his breast,Though pallor showed the thoughts he still suppressed.
