Siavash's Dream of Fire and Water
From B9.51, Siavash Is Troubled by a Dream. It illustrates B9.51.8–12:
- B9.51.8I saw a river stretching far and wide,A fiery mountain rose on the other side.
- B9.51.9And spearmen lined the water’s edge in rows,Along the bank their ordered ranks arose.
- B9.51.10On one side raged a fire both fierce and high,That burned Siavash-Gard beneath the sky.
- B9.51.11Thus fire and water hemmed me in from flight,Afrasiab and his elephant in sight.
- B9.51.12He watched me with a grim and hostile face,And blew upon the flames around that place.”
