From C3.13, Giv Arms Bijan with Siavash’s Jowshan. It illustrates C3.13.22–30:
- C3.13.22Giv heard his son, prepared for coming strife,A lion-hearted youth who risked his life.
- C3.13.23He dismounted, gave him shield and steed,Siavash’s jowshan, for battle’s need.
- C3.13.24He said, “If you are bent on fight today,And stubborn will has driven thought away,
- C3.13.25Mount this swift charger, which will roll the groundBeneath your feet when battle gathers round.
- C3.13.26That jowshan shields your body in the fight,Since you must face an Ahriman of might.”
- C3.13.27When Bijan saw his father’s steed brought near,He sprang down from his own to meet it here.
- C3.13.28He mounted on the royal horse to ride,Then bound his girdle, slung his gorz beside.
- C3.13.29He sought among the troops a man who knewThe Turkish tongue, and spoke its meaning true.
- C3.13.30Then like a mighty lion he rode on,To take revenge for Siavash, now gone.
