Gudarz Names the Banner Height
From C3.28, Gudarz and Piran Choose the Warriors. It illustrates C3.28.53–58:
- C3.28.53Two heights stood opposite across the plain,From which the eye could view each army’s train.
- C3.28.54One stood by Iran, one by Turan’s side; From each the distant ranks could be descried.
- C3.28.55Before them lay the level, open field,Where ill luck brought its victims, doomed to yield.
- C3.28.56Gudarz addressed his warriors, one and all,And showed the height that would proclaim a fall:
- C3.28.57“Whoever overthrows his foe in fightShall raise a banner on this chosen height.”
- C3.28.58Piran marked out the other hill the same,And bade his men thus show their victor’s claim.
