Goshtasb Takes Salm's Sword
From C5.9, Murin’s Suit for Caesar’s Daughter. It illustrates C5.9.71–80:
- C5.9.71The sun tore through the pitch-black robe of night,And stepped beyond its curtain into light.
- C5.9.72Then Murin left his palace, pressing on,And hurried to see Hishvi by the dawn.
- C5.9.73Goshtasb came from hunting on that side;Hishvi looked up and saw the warrior ride.
- C5.9.74They greeted him as he drew near that day,And marveled at the horse and sword’s display.
- C5.9.75Goshtasb surveyed the gifts before his eyes,And chose the horse and sword from that rich prize.
- C5.9.76He gave the other gifts to Hishvi then,And made his friend the happiest of men.
- C5.9.77Goshtasb put on the armor for the fight,And mounted on the charger, armed in might.
- C5.9.78His bow was strung, his kamand at his side,A noble horseman on a steed of pride.
- C5.9.79Hishvi went with him on the forest road,And Murin, seeking help to lift his load.
- C5.9.80They reached the edge of Faskun’s wooded ground,Their hearts in anguish, fear and sorrow bound.
