Bidarfesh Strikes Zarir from Behind

From C6.14, Zarir Is Slain by Bidarfesh. It illustrates C6.14.36–42:

  • C6.14.36
That foul enchanter, loathsome in his form,Rode toward Zarir amid the dust and storm.
  • C6.14.37
But when he saw Zarir, his eyes all tears,His face all dust, amid the flying spears,
  • C6.14.38
His gorz like Sahm’s great weapon in his hand,The slain piled up like hills across the land,
  • C6.14.39
He dared not face that champion in the fight,But circled round him, hidden from his sight.
  • C6.14.40
Unseen, he hurled the poisoned spear; it spedThrough royal jowshan, dyed the armor red.
  • C6.14.41
His kingly form was drenched in flowing blood; He tumbled from his charger to the mud.
  • C6.14.42
Woe for that royal horseman, young and dear!Foul Bidarfesh came down and stripped Zarir.
