Arjasp's Envoys Kneel before Goshtasb
From C6.6, Arjasp Sends Envoys to Goshtasb. It illustrates C6.6.11–16:
- C6.6.11From Turan they reached Balkh and left their steeds,Then sought the court to serve their master’s needs.
- C6.6.12They came on foot before his royal place,And on the threshold laid each lowered face.
- C6.6.13They saw his face above the royal throne,Like sun above the moon in splendor shown.
- C6.6.14They knelt before him as before a king,With all the homage slaves to monarchs bring.
- C6.6.15Then they delivered him Arjasp’s command,The letter written in the Turkish hand.
- C6.6.16The Shah, on opening the letter, raged; He writhed in wrath that nothing yet assuaged.
