- C8.19.3Great were your days when mighty Kavus reigned,And under Kay Khosrow that joy remained.
- C8.19.4Your door of farr is shut; no worth is shownBy him who sits upon your royal throne.”
- C8.19.5Esfandiyar heard Rostam’s words and cameOn foot to meet the warrior of fame.
- C8.19.6He said, “O man of judgment, why displaySuch anger at this royal tent today?
- C8.19.7A sage might call this land Ghulghulistan:‘The land of uproar’ suits Zabulistan.
- C8.19.8A guest, once fed, repays his host with blame,And speaks with scorn the gardener’s very name.”
