Wells Dug on the Road to Jaz
From D10.17, Bahram’s Lion-Hunt. It illustrates D10.17.33–37:
- D10.17.33They brought pavilions, tents, enclosures wide,With beasts and shelters moving at his side.
- D10.17.34Before Bahram, the laborers rode ahead,And dug fresh wells along the route they led.
- D10.17.35They fitted wheels above the wells they made,To draw the water for the army’s aid.
- D10.17.36The Shah came later with his royal mien,And saw the hunting ground, both wide and green.
- D10.17.37He saw the plains alive with Gur-e-Khar,And heard the lions roaring from afar.
