Arrows Stitch the Dragon's Jaws
From D10.31, Bahram Slays a Dragon. It illustrates D10.31.19–23:
- D10.31.19He strung his bow and chose his shafts with skill;Their tips bore milk and poison mixed to kill.
- D10.31.20He loosed them thick while wheeling through the fight,And turned his horse now left and now to right.
- D10.31.21With steel-tipped shafts he sewed the dragon’s mouth,Whose venom scorched the brambles north and south.
- D10.31.22Four further shafts he drove into its head; Its blood and venom mingled as they spread.
- D10.31.23The dragon weakened under arrow-rain,And all the ground ran dark with gore and bane.
