The Defeated Shah Sleeps by the Shepherds

From D6.10, Ardeshir Fights the Kurds and Is Defeated. It illustrates D6.10.11–17:

D6.10.11
The Shah saw fire upon the mountain height,And led his few survivors toward the light.
D6.10.12
Ardeshir turned toward its distant glow; His handful following where he would go.
D6.10.13
He drew up close and saw the shepherds keepTheir watch upon the herds of goats and sheep.
D6.10.14
The Shah and all his men dismounted, worn;Their mouths were thick with dust from battle borne.
D6.10.15
He asked the shepherds there for drink with haste; They brought him water, curdled milk to taste.
D6.10.16
He ate a little of their fare, at ease,Then drew his khaftan off in night’s cool breeze.
D6.10.17
He spread his khaftan out to make his bed;His royal helmet lay beneath his head.
