The Khan Weeps at the Jihun
From E1.10, The Khan Sends Bride and Treasure. It illustrates E1.10.46–49:
- E1.10.46Then with his daughter, goods, and loaded train,He traveled outward toward the Jihun plain.
- E1.10.47The beasts and elephants were richly dressed; The Khan went with them, sorrow in his breast.
- E1.10.48He reached the Jihun’s bank and wept heart’s blood,While grief within him rose, a surging flood.
- E1.10.49He waited till the train had safely crossed,Then turned for home, though all his joy seemed lost.
