The Star-Readers Cast the Horoscope
From E1.9, Anooshirvan Sends for the Khan’s Daughter. It illustrates E1.9.74–82:
- E1.9.74He sat beside his wife to weigh the case,And cleared the others from that meeting place.
- E1.9.75The star-readers came with charts in hand,With mighty men and chiefs from every land.
- E1.9.76The Khan commanded every learned manTo read the heavens and reveal their plan.
- E1.9.77The sages scanned the stars to find the way,And read what fate for Khan and Shah would say.
- E1.9.78Their spokesman said, “O King, let grief depart;Let no dark thought or evil vex your heart.
- E1.9.79This bond shall prosper; cast your fears aside; No foe with ill intent shall here abide.
- E1.9.80High Heaven has ordained what stars proclaim,And in the horoscope has marked the same:
- E1.9.81‘From her shall spring a world-commanding son,By whom both realm and lineage shall be one:
- E1.9.82Great Hormizd, who shall wear the Kayan crown,While Chin and Iran tremble at his renown.’”
