The Host Marches from Madain
From E4.1, Anooshirvan Prepares to March on Rum. It illustrates E4.1.63–67:
- E4.1.63He ordered horns and Indian bells to sound; On elephants the kousts shook all the ground.
- E4.1.64The dust rose dark, the daylight seemed to wane; From Madain marched the troops across the plain.
- E4.1.65So vast their ranks, the green sea seemed to quail,While flags and karnays stirred along the trail.
- E4.1.66The horsemen rode in golden boots arrayed;Their streaming banners filled the sky with shade.
- E4.1.67The stars themselves seemed wholly drowned from sight,And turning heaven reeled beneath their might.
