Bahram Chubin Marches from Chin
From E6.35, Khosrow Writes to the Khan of Bahram. It illustrates E6.35.63–71:
- E6.35.63The Khan heard this; his heart revived again; He laughed, and pride returned before the men.
- E6.35.64The warriors chose two youths of tested might,Fit to command and hardened well in fight.
- E6.35.65In Chin lived noble Chinvi, known for worth,And Zangwi too, a chief of honored birth.
- E6.35.66The Khan called both to sit and take their pay;The divan gave them dinars on that day.
- E6.35.67He bade them both be watchful in the fray,Then gave the charge that both were to obey:
- E6.35.68“Watch Bahram, whether joy or wrath be near;Keep all the crossings of the Jihun clear.”
- E6.35.69He gave them lion-warriors, band on band; All famed in war, with strength at their command.
- E6.35.70Bahram’s loud tabiras rang; dust rose high; The sun seemed ebony against the sky.
- E6.35.71On Sapandarmad day he led his trainAnd marched from Chin toward Iran’s domain.
