Kharrad Heals the Khan's Daughter
From E6.36, Kharrad’s Mission to the Khan. It illustrates E6.36.74–79:
- E6.36.74The steward told the queen, “A healer waits”;She bade him enter through the inner gates.
- E6.36.75The steward said, “Keep secret why you came;Go, heal her child, but do not give your name.”
- E6.36.76Before the Khatoon’s eyes he viewed the maid,Whose liver burned, in dire need of aid:
- E6.36.77“Bring pomegranate juice,” he then decreed,“And streamside chicory, the herb we need.”
- E6.36.78He sought to quell the fever in her head;Within a week, by God’s decree, it fled.
- E6.36.79The girl grew radiant as the moon at night; The queen brought treasure forth in her delight.
