Galinush Receives the Envoys at Tisfoon
From E8.1, Shiruyeh Takes the Throne. It illustrates E8.1.48–56:
- E8.1.48In tears they rode until they reached the wallOf great Tisfoon; grief lay on them like a pall.
- E8.1.49To Mahraspand’s ancestral house they pressed,With heavy grief weighing on every breast.
- E8.1.50For there the exalted king was kept confined,With court and royal power left behind.
- E8.1.51Galinush sat before the palace gate; His martial splendor seemed to shake the state.
- E8.1.52He wore his helm and breastplate, armed for fight,With steel gorz grasped, his heart all storm and light.
- E8.1.53The Arab steeds wore armor row on row,And sword-armed soldiers stood with martial show.
- E8.1.54When old Kharrad and Ashtad had dismounted,Those sages whose renown the wise recounted,
- E8.1.55Galinush rose, rejoicing at their sight,And welcomed both famed chiefs with great delight.
- E8.1.56He gave them fitting place and proper cheer,And honored them as men of name held dear.
