Zal's Three Shafts in the Night
From B1.10, Zal Comes to Mehrab’s Aid. It illustrates B1.10.7–10:
- B1.10.7He set a mighty bow upon his arm,And chose a branch-like shaft to deal them harm.
- B1.10.8He marked each station where the chiefs might lie,Then drove one shaft straight upward through the sky.
- B1.10.9Then three shafts sped to three posts through the night,And stirred the camp with sudden fear and fright.
- B1.10.10At dawn the troops discovered where they fell,And cried: “These are Zal’s shafts; we know them well!”
