Nohzar Brought Bound before Afrasiab
From B1.11, Nohzar Falls to Afrasiab. It illustrates B1.11.8–14:
- B1.11.8They bound his arms with cords drawn hard and tight,And dragged him forth before the tyrant’s sight.
- B1.11.9From tent to plain they brought him in disgrace,Barefoot, bareheaded, fortune turned its face.
- B1.11.10Afrasiab fixed on him his burning gaze,While ancient hatred set his heart ablaze.
- B1.11.11Afrasiab spoke of old feud and hate,Of Salm and Tur, and vengeance long in wait.
- B1.11.12All reverence due to kings he cast aside,With words of scorn and harsh, relentless pride:
- B1.11.13“You merit every ill that now draws near.”He called for steel, his purpose stark and clear.
- B1.11.14The sword was brought; he struck the crowned Shah dead,And with one stroke cut off his royal head.
