Zavareh Falls at Siavash's Hunting-Ground
From B10.12, Zavareh Goes to Siavash’s Hunting-Ground. It illustrates B10.12.3–11:
- B10.12.3They reached a thicket spread across the ground,So dense no passable way could be found.
- B10.12.4With colors, scents, and running streams around,The soul drew nourishment where joys abound.
- B10.12.5The Turk spoke out without a guarded thought:“This is the ground Prince Siavash once sought.
- B10.12.6For this fair place he held all Turan dear; His heart found joy whenever he was here.
- B10.12.7Here he was glad, his heart released from care;Elsewhere his days were burdened by despair.”
- B10.12.8These words struck deep and woke long-buried grief;Old wounds broke open, finding no relief.
- B10.12.9The words struck home; he toppled from his horse,And consciousness was lost beneath their force.
- B10.12.10A falcon rested lightly in his hand;He loosed it; blood-red tears fell on the land.
- B10.12.11His comrades reached him on the hunting-ground,And grief and tears upon his face they found.
