Giv Questions a Lone Man at the Frontier
From B10.16, Giv Seeks Kay Khosrow in Turan. It illustrates B10.16.54–60:
- B10.16.54By His command bold Giv his waist then bound,And came like some fierce lion to the ground.
- B10.16.55Alone he went, no comrade at his side,His sheltered life to God he would confide.
- B10.16.56He rode until he reached Turan’s frontier,And seized each lone man who would venture near.
- B10.16.57In Turkish, he would question captured men,And ask where Kay Khosrow was dwelling then.
- B10.16.58If one replied, “I have no news to tell,”Giv struck him dead, and where he stood he fell.
- B10.16.59He hung the corpse within his kamand’s bend,Then heaped the earth above him at the end.
- B10.16.60So none could learn his secret or his name,Nor hear report of how the stranger came.
