Kavus Crowns Kay Khosrow
From B10.37, Kavus Sets Khosrow upon the Throne. It illustrates B10.37.1–8:
- B10.37.1They left their steeds, and blessings rang aloud;Khosrow kissed Kavus’s hand, and low he bowed.
- B10.37.2Kavus then took the prince in his embrace,And led him to the monarch’s sitting-place.
- B10.37.3He set him in the place that was his own,Then had the Kayan crown brought to the throne.
- B10.37.4He kissed and crowned the prince with solemn care,Then left the ivory throne and took a chair.
- B10.37.5He brought out emeralds, a nisar rare,And royal jewels scattered everywhere.
- B10.37.6Again the name of Siavash he blessed,Whose living image Khosrow’s face expressed.
- B10.37.7Then all the nobles gathered in the hall,The chiefs, sepahbods, high-born leaders all.
- B10.37.8They hailed him Shah and scattered gems around,With pearls and royal jewels on the ground.
