Rohham's Sword Strikes Forood
From B12.12, The Death of Forood. It illustrates B12.12.38–43:
- B12.12.38He thought to strike Prince Bijan on the head,And smash both helm and skull and leave him dead.
- B12.12.39Bijan was staggered by the blow, struck blind; He reeled, the world gone dark within his mind.
- B12.12.40Then Rohham from behind the battle cried,And drew his Indian sword in wrathful pride.
- B12.12.41He struck the lion-youth upon the shoulder;Arm and shoulder fell; his blood ran colder.
- B12.12.42Prince Forood cried; his charger thundered on,Though arm and shoulder from his frame were gone.
- B12.12.43Then Bijan closed beside the fortress wall,And hamstrung Forood’s horse and made it fall.
