Piran Welcomes Siavash with White Elephants
From B9.31, Siavash Yields Command to Bahram. It illustrates B9.31.49–54:
- B9.31.49When Siavash heard the welcoming array,He formed his ranks and hastened forth that way.
- B9.31.50He saw Piran’s banner rise on high,And heard the elephants and horses cry.
- B9.31.51He hurried forth and clasped Piran breast to breast,And asked of king and realm, and all the rest.
- B9.31.52“Why have you worn your spirit on the road? Why bear for me so difficult a load?
- B9.31.53My first desire was your dear self to see,And find you safe; that mattered first to me.”
- B9.31.54Then Piran kissed his head, his feet, his face,And welcomed him with reverence and grace.
