Siavash Chooses the Site for a City
From B9.38, Afrasiab Grants Siavash a Province. It illustrates B9.38.37–43:
- B9.38.37One day they reached a fertile, favored ground,A place of beauty, rich with promise round.
- B9.38.38One side a mountain rose, one met the sea;A hunting plain stretched broad and fair and free.
- B9.38.39With streams and groves where running waters sprung,A place whose freshness made the old heart young.
- B9.38.40Siavash turned to Piran and then said:“Behold what blessed land before us spread.
- B9.38.41Here will I make a city broad and bright,A place to fill the heart with fresh delight.
- B9.38.42With gardens, palaces, and courts arrayed,A spacious city beautifully made.
- B9.38.43A royal seat shall rise toward the moon,Fit for the crown and throne I shall assume.”
