Piran Arrives to Shield Farangis
From B9.56, Piran Shields Farangis. It illustrates B9.56.11–15:
- B9.56.11At that same moment Piran came in view,And through the court a breath of courage grew.
- B9.56.12When Farangis beheld him through her fears,Her moon-bright face was lost in blood and tears.
- B9.56.13She cried: “You left me living in this flame! Why was I spared to suffer such a shame?”
- B9.56.14From off his horse Piran fell to the ground,And tore his Pahlevan robe, grief unbound.
- B9.56.15He bade the guards suspend the king’s decree,Then sought the Shah at once to make his plea.
