Goshtasb Unhorses Ilyas
From C5.15, Goshtasb Battles Ilyas. It illustrates C5.15.10–15:
- C5.15.10When brave Goshtasb beheld Ilyas draw near,He said, “The hour to prove my strength is here.”
- C5.15.11Both riders spurred their horses to assail,With lance and shafts to pierce through jowshan’s scale.
- C5.15.12Ilyas loosed an arrow from his stand; Its point struck home and gashed Goshtasb’s hand.
- C5.15.13Goshtasb drove at the jowshan, lance held low,And through its iron scales he pierced the foe.
- C5.15.14He hurled him from his horse, too dazed to fight,Then reached and seized his hand and gripped it tight.
- C5.15.15He dragged him through the ranks before their eyes,And gave him up to Caesar as his prize.
