The Iranians Kneel to Goshtasb
From C5.18, Goshtasb Receives the Kingship. It illustrates C5.18.7–14:
- C5.18.7Goshtasb then mounted on his eager steed,And acted on the counsel just agreed.
- C5.18.8Crowned, he rode forth to reach Zarir’s abode; His wind-swift charger bore him down the road.
- C5.18.9The warriors saw Lohrasp’s son appear,Goshtasb, that noble prince they held so dear.
- C5.18.10With aching hearts and faces wet with tears,They came on foot, those warriors and peers.
- C5.18.11They bowed before him, praising him at last:Their long and bitter days of grief had passed.
- C5.18.12Zarir dismounted as his brother came,No longer stirred by war’s consuming flame.
- C5.18.13Goshtasb embraced the brother he held dear,And made excuses, humble and sincere.
- C5.18.14They sat together in the royal hall,With Iran’s chiefs and warriors one and all.
