Lohrasp Crowns His Returned Son
From C5.18, Goshtasb Receives the Kingship. It illustrates C5.18.59–67:
- C5.18.59He journeyed on until Iran drew near,And reached the land of warriors without peer.
- C5.18.60When Shah Lohrasp heard Goshtasb neared the townWith brave Zarir, his brother of renown,
- C5.18.61He went with Iran’s chiefs in bright array,With all the mighty warriors on the way.
- C5.18.62Goshtasb dismounted quickly from his steed,And kissed the earth, from sorrow’s burden freed.
- C5.18.63Lohrasp beheld his son and clasped him tight,And mourned harsh heaven at that painful sight.
- C5.18.64They reached the palace, dazzling every eye,Like sun in Pisces, shining from on high.
- C5.18.65Lohrasp said, “Do not lay the blame on me;This was the Maker’s will and firm decree.
- C5.18.66Perhaps this fate was written at your birth:Your realm would lack your presence on its earth.”
- C5.18.67Lohrasp then kissed Goshtasb and crowned his head,And joyfully his royal blessings spread.
