Goshtasb Besieged on the Mountain
From C6.29, Goshtasb Flees before Arjasp. It illustrates C6.29.9–13:
- C6.29.9His troops lit fires amid their deep despair,And burned what thorns and brushwood they could tear.
- C6.29.10Each leader killed a steed in their sad state,And pondered helplessly their bitter fate.
- C6.29.11The Shah laid hand on head in deep dismay,And called Jamasp to find some saving way.
- C6.29.12He spoke at length about the stars, and said,“Declare what Heaven has written overhead.
- C6.29.13Tell all you know; say neither more nor less:Who comes to help me in this great distress?”
